At Longarm Child Care, we believe that every child deserves a safe, nurturing environment and the opportunity to thrive. Founded in 2021, our organisation was born from a heartfelt commitment to address the needs of orphaned, neglected, and abandoned children. We work hand-in-hand with communities to build local solutions, empowering them to identify their own needs and create sustainable change.

Our Story

Longarm Child Care was established as a direct result of research carried out on street and abandoned children. Observing the daily struggles of these vulnerable groups inspired our founder, Rehema Mitawa, to create an institution dedicated to their welfare. What started as a research project turned into a passionate movement to transform lives — not just for children, but for the communities they live in.

Our Founder

Rehema Mittawa’s vision was sparked by her research into the plight of street children in Malawi. Through her background in business administration and accounting, and her commitment to social justice, she laid the foundation for Longarm Child Care. Her vision continues to guide us: a future where vulnerable children are protected, nurtured, and empowered to realize their full potential.

Our Vision

Poverty Relief, Promotion of Education, Healthcare, and Advancement of Social Welfare for Orphaned, Abandoned, and Vulnerable Children in Urban and Rural Areas.

Our long-term mission is to create sustainable programs that address the root causes of child neglect and poverty. We aim to build strong community systems that support child welfare, empower families, and ensure that every child can grow in a safe, healthy environment.
